12 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
13 - 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

→ Finishing

14 - 1 large egg, beaten
15 - 2 tablespoons coarse sugar or sprinkles (optional)

# Directions:

01 - In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
02 - Using an electric mixer, beat softened butter with granulated sugar in a large bowl until pale and fluffy. Incorporate eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract.
03 - Alternately add the flour blend and milk to the creamed mixture, mixing just until a soft dough develops.
04 - Divide dough evenly, flatten each portion into a disk, wrap tightly in plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for 45 to 60 minutes.
05 - In a bowl, combine chopped chocolate, cocoa powder, light brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and melted butter until thoroughly mixed.
06 - Set oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
07 - On a lightly floured surface, roll each dough disk into a rectangle approximately 1/4 inch thick.
08 - Spread half the chocolate filling evenly over each dough rectangle, leaving a 1/2-inch border all around.
09 - Roll dough tightly from the long edge to form logs. Slice each log into 12 equal cookies.
10 - Arrange sliced cookies cut side down on prepared sheets. Brush tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar or sprinkles, if desired.
11 - Bake for 18 to 20 minutes until cookies are golden and set. Cool on baking sheets for five minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
